“You know you’ve made it when you pay $36 for a sandwich and a bottle of water at the Geneva airport.”
Known far and wide for his size and his sarcasm, the man people call simply “Franchi” is beloved by the industry.
His films, in which the characters flee reality to take refuge in the imaginary, are very likely the result of traumas he suffered during his previous career as a banker. The Wild Hunt, his first feature, received the award for best first Canadian feature at the Toronto International Film Festival in 2009. It was also voted one of Canada’s Top Ten Films of 2009 and received the public choice award at Slamdance in 2010, along with several other awards in the United States.
